Terms of service
Last updated 6 September 2026
These terms are the agreement between you and Salesift when you use the website or app. By creating an account you accept them. We have kept them short and readable; nothing here is meant to trick you.
Who can use it
You must be at least 13 years old, and at least 16 where local law requires it. One account per person. Keep your password to yourself; you are responsible for what happens under your account.
What the service is
Salesift shows garage, estate and moving sales, thrift shops, and the companies that run sales. It also gives you private tools to record what you bought, what it cost, what it sold for and what you spent running a resale business.
We do not run the sales. Listings come from members, from the companies themselves, and from EstateSales.NET and GarageSaleFinder.com with their permission. Dates, addresses and contents change, sales are cancelled, and lines behave in ways nobody predicted. Always check the original listing before you drive anywhere, and treat what you read here as a helpful guide rather than a promise.
Your safety at sales
Attending a sale is between you and whoever is running it. Take the same care you would anywhere else: sales are often in private homes, queues start early, and disputes about a list or a number are not ours to settle. Salesift is not a party to anything you buy, and we cannot help with items that turn out to be broken, fake or missing.
What you post
- You keep ownership of your photos, captions, reviews and reports.
- You give us permission to show them in the app and to display them to other members. If you delete something, that permission ends, except for copies already in backups until those expire.
- Only post what is yours to post. Do not upload other people’s photos or copy listing text from elsewhere.
Reviews, ratings and line reports
Reviews and line reports only work if they are honest, so:
- Write from your own first-hand experience, and stick to what actually happened.
- No paid, traded or fake reviews, in either direction. No reviewing your own company or a competitor’s.
- Confirm another member’s line report only if you saw the same thing.
- No personal attacks, no home addresses of private individuals, no threats or harassment.
A company that has claimed its profile may reply publicly to a review, but cannot edit or delete it. We may remove content that breaks these rules, and we may suspend accounts that do it repeatedly. If you think something is wrong, use the Report button.
Fair use of the service
Please do not:
- Scrape, bulk-download or resell the listings you see here.
- Use automated tools to create accounts, votes, points or reviews.
- Try to reach other members’ private records, or work around the security in the app.
- Use the service to break the law, or to advertise anything unrelated.
Points and rewards
Points are earned for contributions such as logging a visit, reviewing a company or sharing a find. They are a thank-you, not money: they have no cash value, cannot be bought, sold or transferred, and we may adjust how many an action earns. Points earned by faking activity will be removed. If we ever close the service we will give notice before points stop being usable.
Paid membership
Parts of Salesift may become a paid subscription in future. If that happens we will say clearly what is paid, what the price is, and how to cancel, before charging anyone. Nothing you can use today will be taken away without warning.
Connecting a sales channel
If you connect Discogs, eBay or Etsy, you allow us to read your own sales from that account so we can fill in your tracker. We never list, change or cancel anything there. Those services have their own terms with you, and they can change or withdraw access at any time. Disconnect whenever you like; what has already been imported stays in your tracker.
Tax and money figures
The profit, loss and tax figures in the app are calculated from what you type in, using published tax tables. They are estimates to help you set money aside. They are not tax, accounting or legal advice, they do not cover state or local tax, and nobody here is your accountant. Check with a professional before you file anything.
Ending your account
You can delete your account at any time in Account → Your data. We may suspend or close an account that breaks these terms, or if we have to for legal or security reasons. If we close your account without cause and you have paid for a subscription, we will refund the unused part.
No warranty, and limits
The service is provided as it is. We cannot promise it will always be available, accurate or error-free. To the extent the law allows, Salesift is not liable for indirect or consequential losses, or for anything that happens at a sale you found here, and our total liability is limited to what you have paid us in the previous twelve months (which, on a free account, is nothing). Some places do not allow these limits, in which case they apply only as far as the law permits.
Changes to these terms
We will post changes here and, if they matter, tell you in the app before they take effect. Carrying on using the service after that means you accept the new version.
Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of the District of Columbia, United States, without regard to conflict-of-law rules, and any dispute will be handled by the courts there. Nothing here removes any right you have under the consumer law of the place you live.
